What is this?

Thanks for checking out this blog.  You may be wondering what exactly it is.

This blog is written from the point of view of someone who lived 80 years ago.  They are commenting on everyday life and the world around them in the year 1936 (as of 2016 our time).  This person doesn't know what will be happening weeks or months in the future, they will be taking life one day at a time.

What would someone back then post about?  People did keep journals back then, but I didn't want to write a blog about imaginary family matters, love lives, or other personal things.  I decided a sort of pop-culture blog of the entertainment and sports of the 1930s could potentially be of interest.  Throw in the economic uncertainties and increasing number of wars and some echoes with 2016 might develop.

So in short, this is a experiment.  I hope to dig up some interesting, little-known details of everyday life in 1936.  Things your grandparents may never had a chance to tell you about.  It might even give some perspective on the events of today.
